Michele Ghee

Chief Content Officer at Essence Ventures

In her role, Ghee is responsible for the content strategy across the Essence portfolio including Essence Magazine, Essence.com, Essence Music Festival of Culture, Essence Studios, Essence TV, Essence 360 App, Girls United and Afropunk. Ghee has previously worked for some of the most powerful media companies in the world generating more than a billion $’s in revenue. Including, the CEO of Ebony and Jet, where she helped revive the iconic brand, CNN, A&E, The History Channel and BET Networks. While at BET, Michele created and ran the first and only network for Black women: BETHer.

Ghee has received many honors, authored three books and was blessed with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters form her alam mater, Golden Gate University.

Her mantra is simple: “Faith-led. Purpose-driven. People-centered.”

Ghee resides in New Jersey and is a proud wife of husband Tony (Finacial Executive, Military Leader, Author) and and honored to be the mom of Taylor (Harvard Class of 2027) and Jordan (Hotchkiss Class of 2026).
